Drug Facilitated Rape (or "Date Rape Drug")
What is It?

The best way to define what is meant by "drug facilitated rape" is to give an example.
A male slips a drug into a beverage. A woman drinks the "spiked" beverage and becomes incapacitated or unconscious. While the woman is incapacitated or unconscious, he rapes her.
Rapists have a new weapon, dosing drinks with "street drugs" like Rohypnol (aka Roofies, the forget pill, and the date rape drug) and Gamma Hydroxybutyrate (or GHB), which can take away your ability to fight back, and your memory of what was done to you. When these drugs are mixed with alcohol, the results can be lethal.

Gamma Hydroxybutyrate (GHB) is a central nervous system depressant that has been investigated as an anesthetic and used for treatment of narcolepsy. Rohypnol is a prescription sleeping medication available outside the United States. Since it is not manufactured in the U.S. it is illegally brought into the States from South America and Mexico. Rohypnol's effects begin within 20 to 30 minutes of ingestion. The overall sedating effects usually last six to eight hours following a 2 mg. dose.
