Telecommunications Day 2000 "Accessing the Wealth Through Education" On April 27, 2000, OneNet partnered with the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education in an effort to highlight the technology training mandated under HB 1518. The goal of this legislation is to have a knowledgeable, lead technology teacher in every wing of every educational institution in Oklahoma. The demonstration provided a "real life" application of OneNet's capabilities of delivering video and data over a single, shared network. The platform chosen to demonstrate the technology training was H.323. This standard provides interoperability between multiple multimedia products and applications. Both Polycom and Intel Teamstations were utilized during the interactive sessions. OneNet worked closely with Lieutenant Governor Mary Fallin's office in the development of this year's "Telecommunications Day at the Capitol." This was the fifth year for the event which is designed to provide Oklahoma lawmakers the opportunity to view, firsthand, the available technologies being employed in Oklahoma's telecommunications and distance learning industries.
