NOTES FROM THE DIRECTOR:

In the past 3 years we have experienced 5 Presidential Declarations in Washington County ranging from drought, wildfire, ice storms, and flooding. Washington County Emergency Management has helped the county recover over $627,000.00 in costs for these events (does not include amounts for cities, schools, and individuals), and almost $1.2M since the year 2000.

Additionally, we are directly responsible for almost $800,000.00 dollars in grants in the past 5 years that help purchase such items as NOAA weather transmitter & radios, safety equipment, fire trucks, light towers, generators, communications equipment and more.

NIMS & ICS training has also been a priority recently with over 100 classroom instructor hours in the past 6 months.

The staff and volunteers of Washington County Emergency Management answer the call for service and have worked extremely hard helping our community respond to, and recover from disasters of every kind. In addition, they have also carried on with regular scheduled events that the organization normally participates in such as Sunfest, OK-Mozart, Relay for Life, Tom Mix Days and other community events.

All of this and much, much more was accomplished by the staff & volunteers of Washington County Emergency Management. Dedicated individuals working to make their community a better and safer place to live.

Thank you,

Kary D. Cox
